Fjords Break

1000 667 Rui

Summer is here and for those that like to enjoy an outdoor lifestyle there are a lot of options out there. My good friend Moses (check his awesome blog here)  invited me for a Scandinavian adventure to the Norwegian Fjords. Loving sports and knowing that this would be an awesome opportunity to test my fitness and have an amazing 3 day break, i packed straight away.

We flew to Bergen (Norway) to reach Trolltung late afternoon. Obviously, the latin beach bum and the persian prince lost the last ferry, making our drive way longer. Typical…

Finally we were there and the plan was simple: get out of our comfort zone, challenge our strength and have fun. I think we achieved that. A 7km bike ride, 3 hours hiking on hardcore terrains and almost 2h climbing (bad ass climbing by the way). This adventure took us 12hours to finish (return). But it was worth it.

Day 2 we were so tired we decided to go only for a gentle kayaking session. The crystalline water of the fjord and the landscape were the most peaceful thing I’ve experienced lately.

Day 3 we head towards Pulpit Rock. Must easier challenge but still mesmerizing views. The route up for this fjord was actually possible to make it running if your fitness levels allowed.

For a trip like this i recommend:

  • planing in advance so you don’t lose the ferry;
  • waterproof and confortable footwear;
  • waterproof trousers;
  • sunglasses to look trendy;
  • temperature regulation shirts;
  • waterproof jacket;
  • 30 liter backpack;
  • drink bottles (maybe 2);
  • portable fast dry towel;
  • food!!!;
  • a pair of balls to do the climbing;
